Janessa
Janessa is a highly experienced specialist sonographer with over a decade of expertise in obstetric and gynaecological ultrasound. Initially beginning her career in South Australia, Janessa was known to actively avoid gynaecological scans, disliking the complexity and emotional nature of these procedures. However, after working at a high-risk obstetric hospital, her exposure to maternal fetal medicine and complex gynaecological cases sparked a profound shift in her career, leading her to develop a true passion for this field.
Relocating to Victoria, Janessa pursued her Master of Medical Ultrasound in Women’s Imaging under the mentorship of esteemed colleagues. This academic undertaking deepened her understanding and appreciation for women’s health, inspiring her to complete advanced training in pelvic floor and endometriosis ultrasound. It was during this time that Janessa’s interest in gynaecology truly blossomed, cementing her as a leading specialist in the field.
Janessa has a particular passion for fertility medicine, gynaecological oncology, endometriosis, and 3D ultrasound in obstetrics and gynaecology. She regularly shares her knowledge and expertise as a speaker at national conferences and state-based events, contributing to the education of other professionals in the field. In recognition of her outstanding contributions to sonography and women’s health, Janessa was awarded Associate Fellow status by the Australasian Sonographers Association in 2023.
